Abstract :
This paper reviews filter implementation alternatives. A 2nd 1.8V 2.14GHz Q-enhanced LC filter with 36MHz bandwidth is reported. The filter uses a resonator built with spiral inductors and inversion-mode PMOS capacitors that provide frequency tuning. The Q tuning is through an adjustable negative-conductance generator. As such, noise and stability analysis demonstrate the design tradeoffs involved. The simulated results are shown that the filtering Q can be attained 120 at 2.14GHz using 0.18mum CMOS process, and the spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) is about 57dB with Q=60 and average power consumption is about 13.4mW. The presented filter is suitable for S-band low earth orbit space applications
