Abstract :
Novel coherent detectors for DQPSK and π/4-DQPSK on fading channels are presented. The phase reference for the decision device is derived by mean square error estimation of the fading process. A finite impulse response filter is used for this purpose. The decision device is a traditional coherent detector. Both 1 and 2 stage detectors are considered. The proposed detectors show significantly better performance in fast fading compared to a differential detector. The detector may be used with FDMA, TDMA, CDMA and OFDM systems
