Abstract :
This paper introduces the process of constructing BCM codes firstly. Then it focuses on the two decoding algorithms-multistage decoding and Viterbi decoding. Finally we compare their performance on the AWGN channel. The simulation result shows that both decoding algorithms achieve coding gain comparing to non-coding QPSK codes and that the BER performance of Viterbi decoding based on soft-decision outperforms multistage decoding.
