Abstract
Summary form only given. All-optical wavelength converters are important components for future WDM networks e.g, to eliminate wavelength blocking in optical cross-connects (OXCs) and to simplify the network management. In case of packet switching, tuneable wavelength conversion may be used to resolve packet contention and simplify the optical buffering required.
