Abstract :
This paper deals with options in developing Virtual Auditory Space (VAS) for the purposes of assistive technology for the visually impaired persons. Our approach of complex tests consisting of testing subject´s hearing, choosing participants of the test groups, and the design of the main space orientation tests, is presented. Additionally, the results of the first basic tests aimed on exploring Just Noticeable Difference (JND) between the visually impaired and subjects with no sight defect are introduced. The results of the following tests represent the most important factors for future design of VAS for the assistive technology.
