  • Abstract
In this paper, we present the design of a low-profile planar microstrip patch-type UHF RFID tag antenna that is mountable on metallic surfaces. In this design, the size of antenna has been emphasized to be limited within a standard 4" x 2" size. This novel antenna structure does not require any shorting plate or via hole, so it is suitable for fabrication using the current RFID tag manufacturing techniques. The impedance and radiation characteristics of the proposed antenna are analyzed by Ansoft\´s high frequency structure simulator (HFSS). Additional results will be presented during the symposium.
