Abstract :
A 1-D EBG structure has been presented and designed as a ground plane for a printed dipole antenna. The dipole antenna can be placed very close to the 1-D EBG ground plane, because the EBG ground plane operates like an in-phase reflector. The designed low profile antenna with the 1-D EBG ground plane exhibited a directional radiation pattern as well as good resonant characteristics.
