Abstract :
It draws great interests to evaluate the potential impacts on the power grid by electric vehicles (EVs). This calls for the technology of Vehicle to Grid (V2G), which describes a system in which EVs communicate with power grid to provide peak power, spinning reserves, regulation services and renewable energy storage. V2G technology may present huge potential economic values and social benefits. This paper introduces the concepts and functions of V2G. Furthermore, it analyses impacts of electric vehicles on power grid planning, transmission/distribution networks and important aspects of utilization. The simulation results indicate that V2G improves the smoothness of load curve and reduces regulating frequency time in power grid. Furthermore the effects of V2G for primary regulation and for secondary regulation are analyzed in later sections.
