Abstract
This paper presents results of simulation and optimisation of aspects of the wave power generating station located on the Island of Islay, which lies off the western coast of Scotland. Prior to optimisation, the simulation process is validated by a comparison between predicted and measured results from the existing system. Then, in order reduce the fluctuations of generated electrical power, an optimisation technique is employed to produce a suitable combination of induction generator parameters and system inertia. The implications for practical implementation are also discussed
