Abstract :
This paper establishes a method for the online self-design or self-adjustment of a DC/AC converter based stabilizer in the multi-machine power system. The application of the proposed method is directly focused on the tie-line power variation measured by Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) in real time. If there is no stabilizer installed yet, self-design procedure is activated. If a stabilizer has already been installed, there comes to self-adjustment procedure. Once a low-frequency oscillation is detected in the tie-line, the parameters of the DC/AC converter based stabilizer can be online designed or adjusted according to the current operating status of the power system in order to supply enough damping.
