Abstract :
A new parameter identification method is proposed in this paper to estimate the parameters of large synchronous machines. A sudden change of excitation is imposed on the generator when it is under load operation and its transients of voltages, currents and rotor angle are recorded. With the model of large disturbance equations and the rotor angle used as an observation argument, the parameters of Xd, Xd\´, Xd", TdO, TdO", Xq, Xq", TqO", H, D and the equivalent infinity source Uc and the equivalent line reactance Xc can be estimated. The new method had been used to estimate the parameters of large turbogenerators, the transients by simulation with these parameters fit the tests very well
