Abstract :
Summary form only given. Vertical-cavity, surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) diodes offer an alternative and potentially more efficient pump source. We report on Nd:YVO/sub 4/ microchip lasers operating with surface-emitting pump lasers and demonstrate the potential of VCSELs to produce low pump power devices.
