Abstract :
Summary form only given. For coherence radar measurements, of large lateral ranges broadband lasers with average output powers of several 100 mW in the visible spectral range and with fundamental mode operation are needed. With luminescence diodes, however the low performance substantially limits the applicability of this measuring method. This concerns on the one hand the delimitation of output power of these devices of less than 10 mW and on the other hand the bad beam quality. But still a spectral range of several 10 nm is essential. Such large ranges can be achieved by gain switching broadband laser materials like Ti:sapphire.
