Abstract :
Conventional vehicular communication antennas are designed as SISO single service antennas. Each transceiver system is connected by its individual coaxial cable to its private antenna. During the age of SISO radio communication this was the economically optimum approach. Integration space in the antenna enclosure was sufficiently available and the avoidance of hardware sharing reduced the development´s complexity because less interaction between different teams was necessary and the antennas could act as a first band limiting device. During the last decade communication technologies (i.e. MIMO) requiring different antenna characteristics arose. One common additional requirement of these systems is the need for further antennas within the same frequency band.
