Abstract :
In Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) there are mobile nodes in decentralized fashion having an unstructured network topology Nodes move around freely and communicate with each other based on their transmission range, forming temporary communication links. In order to establish communication between nodes that are outside the range, a node uses its neighbour nodes as a `bridge´ to receive and forward messages. The biggest challenge in MANETs is to find a path between communicating nodes. Swarm intelligence, a bio-inspired technique, which has proven to be very adaptable in other problem domains, has been applied to the MANET routing problem as it forms a good fit to the problem. There is no central control on the activities of the individual ants. Their activities are driven by local interactions and communications among a number of relatively simple individuals. In this paper, we have proposed a more efficient and modified version of ant colony based routing algorithm for routing in mobile ad hoc networks.
