Abstract :
In this paper, stacked patch antenna with different topologies fabricated on 0.127 mm-thick substrate were investigated and measured. It was found that the bandwidth and gain of stacked antenna fabricated on 0.127 mm-thick substrate are less than that on 0.254 mm-thick substrate. To increase the frequency bandwidth, a small slot is inserted into the lower substrate driving patch to cover at least 10 GHz band with at least 8dBi gain. Also two types of stacked antennas with two driving-patches were compared. The measured results showed that antenna with two stacked patch structure has 1GHz wider bandwidth than that of the antenna with one stacked patch by the penalty of lower gain at higher frequencies. Finally, a series-parallel mixed stacked array was designed to increase the gain. It exhibited more than 10dBi gain over the band from 56 GHz to 66 GHz.
