Abstract :
The importance of accurate technical documentation to the maintenance process is presented. A possible solution to the lack of adequate technical documentation is suggested in the form of a partially automated in-line documentation system. This system uses software metrics to determine where comments should be placed in source programs. The system can be used as a tool in software development and/or software maintenance
