Abstract
SVCDPlus (Super Video Compact Disc Plus) is a new disc standard we developed in China for long playing mode requirements of discs from the Chinese market with a middle level of resolution. We use DVD-ROM as the carrier instead of CD-ROM and still keep the SVCD system format on top such that the playing time can be extended to 4 to 7 hours depending on the average bit rate. This standard fills the gaps between the Chinese market requirement and current available disc standards. We developed the SVCDPlus authoring tools and the SVCDPlus player based on Philips TriMedia board.
