Abstract :
With the rapid development of optical communications, there are more and more plans to transport data over fiber channel at Gigabits/second line rates (OC-48 and OC-192). In order to take advantage of this tremendous bandwidth, routers and switches vendors need to measure the performance of their new high-speed products with realistic traffic. In this paper, we show a novel architecture of an FPGA-based test-bed, built using a Nios development board from Altera copy, equipped with a Stratix chip. The test-bed can be used to measure layer 2 packet switch performance
