Abstract :
We demonstrate for the first time anti-guided coupling of two adjacent vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers, obtaining a 1-by-2 phased array. Anti-guiding by lateral modification of the longitudinal resonance is achieved by a patterned shallow etch performed between two epitaxial growths.
