Abstract :
Application of Micro Genetic Algorithm (MGA), for the solution of unit commitment problem has been described in this paper. In MGA, a String Correction Operator has been introduced, which addresses the problem of violated schedules. The inclusion of this operator assists the algorithm in arriving at the optimal solution without sacrificing the quality of the solution. The results obtained are analyzed and compared.
