Comprehensive review and selection criteria for virtual network computing technology

The ability to access and operate one computer from another computer remotely in today´s world is an essential and can be achieved by the help of Network Computing Technology (VNC). The aim of this study is to provide a comprehensive review of VNC technology. In this paper needs and processes for using a VNC system are explained. Using VNC in android cellphones is described and basic models of desktop sharing are defined. Some of remote desktop sharing applications are introduced and compared. Cross platform desktop sharing is explained with an example. Cons and benefits of VNC systems are also discussed in the paper. Finally, the necessary criteria for selecting the appropriate desktop sharing software is prescribed that can be helpful for choosing a certain software for certain conditions.
