Abstract
One of features of volume discharges - presence of layer of a cathode voltage drop, due to which in stable stationary conditions of uniform burning on the area receiving electrons is provided from the cathode field in a discharge column. A voltage drop and size of cathode field are fixed so that the requirements of self-maintenance, that is discharge due to ionization processes in gas and secondary processes on the cathode are carried out.
