Abstract
The authors deal with the problem of immersion of a nonlinear system into a linear one, up to output injection. They give a local necessary and sufficient condition and a complete characterization of the global situation, which leads to a global sufficient condition. This result is of interest for the synthesis of observers of nonlinear systems, and the realization of finite dimensional filters in some cases
