Abstract
Summary form only given. Protonation of polyemeraldine with phosphoric acid diesters containing alkyl, aryl or alkyl-substituted aryl groups results in conducting polymers which can be solution or thermally processed. Detailed FTIR and Raman studies of solid films and solutions of diester protonated polyaniline are presented. The spectra of solid and solution samples are virtually indistinguishable and prove that polyemeraldine does not deprotonate upon dissolution. Raman spectra registered for 647.4 nm excitation line show, in turn, that non-protonated nitrogens exsist even in samples in which nominal protonation level should assure complete protonation.
