Abstract
This article proposes an active filter configuration used for single-phase to three-phase conversion. The proposed system permits to minimize IGBT dual modules losses and consequently minimizing the cost of the system. Such cost reduction is due to the operation of proposed system in shunt way, thus only part of power follows through the converter. The input and output voltages of the converter operate synchronized, and the synchronization angle between single-phase and three-phase systems is the control variable used to minimize system´s losses. A transformer is used to operate as series active filter. Despite the additional cost associated with transformer, this configuration presents only four arms, the investment can be lower than the direct solution with five arms. Steady state analysis, simulated and experimental results are presented as well.
