Title :
Half-normal Run Length Packet Channel Models Applied in DVB-H Simulations
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
This paper describes a packet error model that uses mixtures of half-normal distributions to approximate the statistics of measured packet error traces. An explicit relationship between the model parameters and observed error statistics is derived. The model is applied in simulating a digital video broadcasting system for handheld terminals (DVB-H), and evaluated based on its statistical accuracy and simulation performance. Advantages of the half-normal packet channel model are considered in generating parameterized models for the DVB-H transport stream (TS).
