Abstract :
B-scan imaging equipment presently provides two views on the screen which allow for two B-scan views by placing the transducer at two perpendicular positions on the body surface and thus get both transverse and longitudinal sectional views. Likewise, by doing a limited angular movement scan reconstruction on two orthogonal arcs the same views are enhanced with increased resolution and hence permit volume evaluations by any program more accurately. The ability to resolve cysts is rendered better, due to increased resolution and contrast between cyst and background. While a full 180° movement is well reported as a standard tomographic reconstruction procedure, the limited angular movement data is beset with doubts as to the enhancement of the image it is likely to provide, and if the same is justified in view of the extra complexity of the hardware and data processing involved in the storage and reconstruction. The problem and the estimate of anisotropic resolution over the image section with just a limited angular tomographic reconstruction (LTR), and the effect on image quality are discussed
