Abstract :
Summary form only given. Dehalogenation polycondensation of isotope labelled 1,4-dihalobenzene with Ni(O) complex (e.g., a mixture of bis(1,5-cylooctadiene)nickel(O) Ni(cod)/sub 2/ and 2,2´-bipyridyl bpy) gives the corresponding isotope labelled poly(p-phenylene), /sup 13/C-enriched PPP. E. g., /sup 13/C-Enriched (98.5%) C/sub6/H/sub 4/I/sub 2/ + Ni(O)L/sub m/ /sup 13/C-Enriched IR vibration frequencies of PPP shift by 1.2 - 3.6% by the isotope labelling; for example, the skeletal virbation of PPP at 1596 cm /sup -1/ shifts to 1543 cm /sup -1/ by the /sup 13/C-labelling. CP-MAS /sup13/C-NMR signals of usual PPP and /sup13/C-enriched PPP are reasonably accounted. Line width of ESR signal of neutral PPP increases by 0.27 mT due to the /sup 13/C-labelling, whereas that of doped PPP by 0. 13 mT due to the /sup 13/C-labelling.
