Abstract :
The article emphasizes that general cultural competence makes a competitive graduate student who is in demand on the job market and who can successfully realize their potential in various fields. In this article an attempt is made to determine a system of general cultural competencies as part of the formation of engineering competencies. The system of general cultural competence consists of objective, cognitive, social and personal-relevant communicative competencies. The article also dwells on teaching methods helping to form the competencies determined, forms of control are highlighted. A model of subject competence and qualitative methods of assessment of learning in accordance with the objectives is developed. The author develops a group of efficiency criteria which determine to what extent learning objectives are achieved. An attempt is made to identify certain indicators for every group of criteria. The study proves that acquiring general cultural competence during studying at the university helps to get engineering competencies, expanding the scope of professional orientation.
