Abstract :
A BLAST receiver architecture based on the MIMO-DFE (multiple-input-multiple-out decision feedback equalizer) is proposed to combat FS (frequency selective) channels. At each stage of detection, an MIMO-DFE in the MMSE sense is employed to estimate signals simultaneously, and multiple signal streams are selected for output and contribute to interference cancellation. The MIMO-DFE based BLAST promises a performance advantage over the MISO-DFE (multiple-input-single-output DFE) based BLAST where a MISO-DFE is used at each stage. It is also shown that the MIMO-DFE based BLAST requires less complexity than the MISO-DFE based BLAST because fewer equalizer stages and less computation for ordering signals are required
