  • Abstract
    A lot of data mining techniques and tools are available for extracting trends, characteristics or rules from data. A selection of those relevant to universal design is discussed in this paper. Clustering, classification, association rule extraction and the ways in which each family of techniques could be used in universal design are considered. In addition to demonstrating the relevance of data mining techniques to universal design, one specific application of clustering is discussed. It illustrates the possibilities for improving existing design techniques by integrating a data mining approach.
