Abstract :
The authors show that the combined application of Fourier and complex analysis results in the analytic solution of the chopper ripple current as a function of circuit and control parameters. It is shown how the squared RMS of the chopper ripple currents can be derived, and some practical cases are analyzed. The analysis is performed using a three-phase chopper. The method is experimentally verified on model chopper drives with the DC motor as a load
