Abstract :
Globalization of economy makes technical translators a necessary part of world engineering community. Computer-aided technologies became an indispensable component of professional technical translation in the early 21st Century. The paper offers flexible learning approach to providing technical computer-aided translation programs for various target groups: from engineering students with technical translation minor to technical specialists in translation agencies. The business model for technical translation applied in translation companies is used as an invariant component. A real technical translation project carried out by all the participants is used as a feedback tool to customize the study program. Each student or group pursues individual pathway through a technical translation algorithm with software tools chosen for each stage. The required learning outcomes are skills in optimization and facilitation of a translation process.
