Abstract
The ATS-SP system (automatic train stop system based on the ATS-S type automatic warning system (AWS) with checking limit speed pattern) is proposed as an upgraded railway signaling system. It is based on the data-oriented control method (DOME) to achieve sophisticated train control. The need for DOME is discussed, and two other conventional methods, the speed indication and the distance indication methods, are described. The application of DOME for two kinds of conventional signaling systems, the speed indicating cab-signal system and the conventional AWS system, is explained. The features of the ATS-S type automatic warning system are explained
