Abstract
The median filtering algorithm has good noise-reducing effects, but its time complexity is not desirable. The paper proposed a new median filtering algorithm. The algorithm uses the correlation of the image to process the features of the filtering mask over the image. It can adaptively resize the mask according to noise levels of the mask. The statistical histogram method is also introduced in the searching process of the median value. Experimental results show that the algorithm reduces the noise and retains the details of the image. The complexity of the algorithm is decreased to O (N), and the performance of noise reduction has effectively improved.
