Abstract :
In this letter, a modified broad-band microstrip-fed planar antenna based on the classic Yaqi-Uda assembly is presented. This antenna has been developed using well known design tables. The (-10) dB return loss bandwidth of the antenna is 29 % for one director only. Incorporating additional directors has the potential for increasing the bandwidth. The antenna is realized on a thin dielectric substrate and is completely compatible with monolithic microstrip circuitry. This novel antenna should find wide application in wireless communication devices, phased arrays, as well as multi-beam systems.
