Abstract :
The distributed amplifier photodiode combination shows a superior signal to noise ratio over the grounded source one when used with a lossy photodiode. A 8.34 dB improvement in the signal-to-noise ratio is predicted at a 40 GHz bandwidth. The effect of photodiode resistance on the signal to noise performance is very small
