Abstract :
A novel method for operating the distributed amplifier as a transversal filter with gain at microwave frequencies has been presented and discussed. Simulation results show the practicability of the technique and its particular usefulness in optical systems where pulse shaping is required. The technique described is versatile since a range of receiver responses can be constructed by varying the FET gains and the effective stage delays. The ability to produce a well controlled receiver response makes this technique particularly useful for obtaining very wideband operation from available frequency-limited semiconductor processes
