Abstract
This paper presents a predictive control approach to the signalling and coordination between the control and data planes as prediction operation. The control strategy relies on an estimator to improve the reliability of the signalling messages by estimating the missing or the delayed networking monitoring data by a multivariable predictive controller computing the future control signals well in advance. The predictive controller is able to monitor and to adapt to the variable network loads and congestion while optimizing the cross-layer signalling traffic. Since the prediction control does not need network transmission characteristics or dynamics, it can be applied to any network recovery mechanism.
