Abstract :
Nowadays it is said to be that most of the people die due to accidents occurring in the road side than any diseases. In some cases accidents also occurs due to mechanical failure of the vehicle. But in most of the cases it is due to human who drives these vehicles in crowded areas. In order to avoid such a situation highway department has placed signboards to alert the drivers, but it is not always possible to view those signboards while driving. So the drivers may lose their control over the brakes and also may collide with other pedestrians or it may hit any stationary vehicles. In order to avoid this situation we are using a new system for detecting crowded areas called safety zones and avoiding collision. The system automatically controls the speed of the vehicle at various safety zones. This system is designed with two separate units: Zone status transmitter unit and Vehicle control unit, once the emergency zone is detected, the control data can be exchanged between vehicle control unit and the road side transmitter unit, and the controller automatically reduces the speed of the vehicle. Simulation and experimental result shows that this system is easily adopted and avoids collisions.
