Abstract :
Summary form only given. Electrical and electrochemical properties of polyacetylene derivatives having cationic pendant groups have been studied. The polyacetylene derivative showed good solubility in electrolyte solvents. By mixing with solution of Nafion which is an ion-exchange polymer having anionic pendant groups an insoluble composite film of these ionic polymers was prepared on a test electrode. Slight increase of band gap energy of the conducting polymer was observed upon complexation with Nafion. The composite film showed electrochemical doping-undoping current waves of both p- and n-types. Electric conductivity and absorption spectra of this novel polymer composite have also been studied as a function of doping level.
