Abstract
In modern computing system, processor technology has evolved tremendously with ever increasing processor frequency and number of processors cores. With better performance, more power is utilized. This research focuses on manipulating processor frequency, taking advantage of frequency scaling feature and combining with processor affinity to optimize power consumption in processors, with the objective to propose a power optimization algorithm. Various test scenarios and test cases are presented to confirm and support the power optimization algorithm using frequency scaling and processor affinity with the optimum configuration.
