  • Abstract
    Aiming at the monitoring environment characteristics, an on-line monitoring system of power cable joints temperature based on the combination of CAN wired transmission and ZigBee wireless network is designed. The structure, principle, software and hardware design of the system are given in this paper. By combining of CAN Bus and ZigBee network, not only long-distance transmission and wide range monitoring can be achieved, but also other networks are not needed to depend on. The power loss of ZigBee equipment itself is low, in addition, the using of timing sleep mode in each node makes the loss further lower. So the system may be applied both in urban and in the fields. By monitoring and analyzing the temperature of power cable joints, it can give an early alarming of cable joints accidents and will be very significant to the safe and reliable operation of power system.
