  • Abstract
In practice 3-D medical structures are often recorded with weak boundaries within volumetric data, and their modeling often remains deceptive. The author proposes a solution to that problem that uses an efficient approach to render fuzzy structures with a volumetric compositing display based on a ray-tracing approach. The technique has been shown to improve display quality for awkward segmentation structures. Moreover, the dynamic classification process used helps to focus the volume rendering on a specific structure according to its real histogram distribution. Examples featuring this display modality are shown
