Abstract :
Discussed are reliability engineering´s potential in software development, and why it has been absent from the software development process. Reliability engineering tools that could significantly improve software reliability are identified. Testing and documentation are subsets of quality. If software is to be more reliable, the goal must be error prevention through design, not error discovery through testing
