Abstract :
Network without fixed infrastructure is called ad hoc network. All the nodes communicate directly with each other with dynamically changing topology. This poses a challenge for developing efficient routing protocols. In this paper we presents a comprehensive study on the performance of ad hoc network routing protocols with two Mac layer models. The routing protocols used in this study are AODV and ZRP which comprise a good mix of proactive and hybrid routing protocols. The Mac layer models used here are 802.11 and 802.11e. Their performance is analyzed on throughput, jitter, end-to end delay and total packets received measuring metrics by varying the number of nodes in the network using QualNet 5.0.2 network simulator.
