Abstract :
Summary form only given. With the proprietary technology of a one atmosphere uniform glow discharge, we have been able to sterilize surfaces contaminated with various microorganisms and bacteria. To sterilize the material, typical plasma reactor operating conditions of 4 to 6 kV rms and 5 to 6 kHz can be used. So far, we are able to achieve the complete killing of Stephylococcus Aureus, E-coli and Candida Albicans in minutes. These samples were seeded on nonwoven fabrics and then exposed in the one atmosphere uniform glow discharge plasma reactor at the UTK Plasma Science Laboratory. We expect to report data on killing bacterial spores inside the medical sterilization bag well as in other media.
