Abstract :
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have great potential to enhance road safety and improve driving comfort. This paper presents the design concept of ADAS by comparing ADAS with traditional vehicle safety technologies. The concept shows that driver acceptance makes a great difference to the safety impact of ADAS. According to this conclusion, this paper also proposes the design method of ADAS. This design method covers naturalistic driving data collection, algorithms development based on PreScan, driving simulator evaluation and field tests evaluation.
