Abstract
Summary form only given. Some salts of bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (ET) with polymeric anion layers are organic superconductors with highest transition temperatures. However, due to the presence of stoichiometric vacancies in these layers, the salts of ET/sub 3/Ag/sub x/I/sub 8/, ET/sub 2/Cu/sub 5/I/sub 6/ and ET /sub 3/CuCl/sub 4/*H/sub 2/O are mixed ion - electron conductors. It is shown that contrary to the three mentioned salts, current treatment does not lead to long range ion movement in the the ET/sub 2/Cu(SCN) /sub 2/ salt that have no vacancies, but rather moves them to the sinks for the metal ions, released from the broken complex anions. Comparison of the results for the four salts show, that for layered ET-based salts with spatially separated electron and ion conducting layers electron wind phenomenon is unlikely to be of prime importance. Effects of structural disorder in the electronic structure of the materials are studied.
